Bishop Kelvin and Prophetess La Quetta Simmons
Both Bishop Kelvin and Prophetess La Quetta Simmons are ordained ministers who have been preaching and teaching the Gospel for a total of 22 years while they served at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Pomona, California for 18 and 29 years respectively.
Following the Spirit of God, they took on the charge of planting a church for the Glory of God. On Sunday, February 3, 2008, along with nine founding members, Pastor Selena Austin, Deacon Mark and Samantha Bishop, Pastor Dr. Edward and Jenise Bush, Sister Regina Dean, Sister Trequitta Jennings, Brother Derek Sanders, and Minister Myesha Taylor, Pastors Kelvin and La Quetta Simmons birth a new ministry, Immanuel Praise Fellowship.
Bishop Kelvin Simmons is a gifted teacher and preacher. He believes that it is critical to teach and preach the Word in a thorough and simple manner in order to un-complicate Christ so everyone can experience equal and unlimited access to God. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of La Verne and seminary training from the International School of Theology.
Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles he rose above the plight of many young men growing up in similar communities across our country. A former community organizer, he has dedicated his life to re-creating communities where youth can thrive and everyday people have a voice. His work in the community has garnered him various honors and awards.
In addition to pastoring Immanuel Praise Fellowship, Bishop Kelvin is an Insurance broker.
Although Prophetess La Quetta Bush-Simmons felt the call to ministry at the age of 13, she did not step into her prophetic commission until 1995 when she was the second woman and youngest minister to receive licensing. She received her undergraduate education at the University of California at Irvine and seminary training from the International School of Theology.
Professionally, Prophetess La Quetta Simmons has led four non-profit organizations and has served in a leadership and advisory capacity for more than 11 cultural and service-oriented organizations. Named twice as the outstanding volunteer for the Pomona Valley Human Relation Council, Reverend Simmons was listed in the International Who’s Who of Professionals and was awarded the prestigious Woman of Achievement from the YWCA, The Business Press News Magazine 2003 Leaders of Distinction Award for non-profit leadership and featured in the Apartment Professional Magazine, a national publication, as one 14 top women executives in the industry.
Bishop Kelvin and Prophetess La Quetta Simmons have been married since 1992 and have a beautiful daughter Kandace Iman.
